Core performance characteristics of diesel engine
Feb 04,2026
High thermal efficiency: The thermal efficiency is generally 35%~45%, significantly higher than gasoline engines (25%~30%), and the fuel economy is good;
Low speed high torque: Strong torque can be output at low speeds, suitable for heavy loads, climbing, and traction;
Strong durability: components have high strength, conservative working condition design, and a lifespan often longer than gasoline engines of the same level;
Diverse fuels: can use 0 # diesel, -10 # diesel, and also compatible with biodiesel (B5/B20, etc.);
Emissions and noise: Traditional models have high levels of NO ₓ and particulate matter emissions, while modern National VI/Euro VI models significantly reduce emissions through post-treatment such as SCR and DPF; Idle and heavy load noise and vibration are usually greater than gasoline engines.
