Working Principle

Sandblasting machines typically use compressed air as the power source to propel abrasive media—such as metallic and non-metallic abrasives, including steel shot, glass beads, copper ore, quartz sand, carborundum, iron sand, and sea sand—at high velocity onto the workpiece surface. The impact and cutting action of the abrasive on the workpiece surface effectively removes contaminants, dirt, and oxide layers, while simultaneously roughening the surface, increasing the hardness and residual stress of the substrate, and thereby enhancing the mechanical properties of the workpiece—for example, improving fatigue resistance—and increasing the adhesion between the coating and the workpiece, thus extending the service life of the coating.
