Working Principle

Compression Ignition: In a diesel engine, the piston compresses the air in the cylinder, raising its temperature to the ignition point of diesel fuel. Subsequently, the fuel injector atomizes and injects diesel into the cylinder, where it mixes thoroughly with the high-temperature, high-pressure air and ignites spontaneously, driving the piston to perform work.
Four-Stroke Cycle: The operating cycle of a diesel engine consists of four strokes: intake, compression, power, and exhaust. During the intake stroke, fresh air enters the cylinder; during the compression stroke, the air is compressed, raising both its temperature and pressure; in the power stroke, the self-igniting diesel fuel drives the piston to perform work; and in the exhaust stroke, the combustion products are expelled from the cylinder.

Structural Composition

Crankshaft-connecting-rod mechanism: Converts the reciprocating motion of the piston into the rotational motion of the crankshaft, thereby delivering power.
Fuel system: Includes components such as the fuel injection pump and injectors, which are responsible for injecting diesel fuel into the cylinders in an atomized form.
Lubrication system: Provides lubricating oil to all moving parts of the diesel engine to reduce wear and friction.
Cooling system: Circulates cooling water or air to reduce the diesel engine’s temperature, ensuring it operates within the optimal temperature range.
Starting system: Includes the starter motor, battery, and other components, used to start the diesel engine.
